wrong, your un-lag amount is calculated by your latency to the server and backwards
Your maximum ticks you can go is (sv_maxunlag = 1second)
So the maximum ticks would be (1 second / server_tick_rate) = tick interval per second
(basically you can go back a full server cycle which is the servers tickrate)

With aimware on mm servers you cant backtrack more than 13 ticks iirc
