Someone is trying to buy me a sub but it won't let him "An error occurred!"

Which error code?
He needs to be logged in your account tho.

I had that issue before, the only way to buy a sub is to 1st login to the forum with the account u r trying to buy for, so its pretty much impossible to gift subs.
Only way I was able to gift a sub was by sending money to them and let them buy it manually.
